YOU'RE INVITED: Free Expert Dementia Care Training Online

Supporting people living with dementia takes more than compassion – it requires practical skills, evidence-based strategies, and the confidence to respond well in real-life situations.

At E4 People, we’re committed to helping aged care professionals deliver dignified, person-centred care every day. That’s why we’ve partnered with HammondCare’s The Dementia Centre to offer a series of free online dementia training workshops – open to everyone in the aged care sector, not just E4 People staff.

These live sessions are one-off events and will not be recorded, so the best way to benefit is to join us live and take part in the discussion.

Why these dementia workshops matter

Dementia care can be complex. Team members are often managing:

  • Changed behaviours and communication challenges
  • Sensitive conversations with residents and families
  • Balancing dignity, safety, independence and risk
  • Environmental and routine barriers that impact wellbeing

These workshops are designed to give you practical, real-world strategies you can use straight away in residential aged care, home care, or community settings. You’ll be learning directly from The Dementia Centre’s experts, with the opportunity to reflect, ask questions and build confidence in your approach to care.

Who are the workshops for?

These sessions are ideal for anyone working with or supporting people living with dementia, including:

  • Aged care nurses (RN, EN)
  • Care workers and AINs/PCAs
  • Lifestyle and activities staff
  • Clinical leaders and care managers
  • Facility managers and team leaders
  • Allied health professionals and support staff

You do not need to work with E4 People to attend – the workshops are free and open to the whole sector.

Sexuality, Intimacy & Dementia

Date & time: 19 March | 10:00–11:00am AEDT
Led by: Ashley Roberts, Dementia Consultant

REGISTER HERE

Intimacy, relationships and sexuality don’t disappear with a dementia diagnosis – but they can become more complex to navigate in residential or supported environments.

In this workshop, you’ll explore:

  • How dementia can change expressions of intimacy and sexuality
  • Respectful and ethical responses to residents’ needs and behaviours
  • Balancing rights, dignity, consent and safety
  • Communicating with families and teams about sensitive topics

You’ll walk away with a clearer framework for responding in a way that honours each person’s humanity while maintaining professional and organisational boundaries.

Dementia and the Environment

Date & time: 21 April | 10:00–11:00am AEDT
Led by: Daniel Jameson, Design Specialist

REGISTER HERE

The physical environment can either support or challenge a person living with dementia. Small changes in layout, lighting, sound and visual cues can make a big difference to independence, orientation and wellbeing.

This session covers:

  • Key design principles for dementia-friendly environments
  • Common environmental stressors and how to reduce them
  • Practical, low-cost changes you can make in existing facilities
  • How environment influences behaviours, mood and engagement

Perfect for managers, lifestyle teams and clinicians looking to make their spaces more supportive without major refurbishments.

Meaningful Engagement – Creating Connection

Date & time: 28 April | 10:00–11:00am AEDT
Led by: Gillian Schulze, Dementia Educator, art therapist and artist

REGISTER HERE

Connection and purpose are at the heart of quality dementia care. Meaningful engagement goes beyond “keeping people busy” – it’s about understanding the person, their story and what matters most to them.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to use life stories to shape truly person-centred activities
  • Ways to engage people across all ability levels – not just the most independent
  • Creative approaches (including art and sensory activities) that foster connection
  • Strategies to adapt engagement as dementia progresses

This is an excellent session for lifestyle coordinators, activity staff, carers and anyone passionate about resident wellbeing.
